Here we go everyone. First new wednesday comic page in black and white! I will obviously be fiddling with the shading a bit as I adjust to working in these parameters, but expect lots of screentones. I like screentones.

I’m already thinking about slightly altering the way I draw the shadow man. Just maybe making his shading a little less smoky, as it isn’t as striking when everything in monochrome. We shall see! The next page has a lot of closeups of his hands, and I think that any possibly muddiness will really show up there.

So I watched “White Haired Witch” the other day. It’s a martial arts / romance film with heavy influence from “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” It’s a… pretty standard martial arts “epic”. with the nations being at war and the protagonist having to choose sides and their lover being this mysterious fighter that’s all tough and fierce but just becomes putty in his arms when he calls her sweet things like uh… Silk moth? Or something. I don’t remember specifically. Suffice it to say that it is an above average flick with decent fight scenes, but not really anything to write home about. Except… for the final scene. Oh yeah. The end scene. the last two minutes before the credits roll. That scene is one of the greatest pieces of cinematic artwork I have seen in my entire life. Seriously, just go watch that last scene. The movie is on Netflix. You don’t even have to watch the rest of the movie if you don’t want, just watch that last scene! My God I have never seen anything more… spectacular.
